All I can say is wow! I have not had the honor in reading work by author Tina Carreiro before Power of the Moon. I found this book to be one of the best books I have read in the vampire genre in a very long time.  Yes I consider the 'vampire' as a genre as far as I am concerned because it deserves to stand on itself even though it is paranormal.

I found that I could not tear myself away from Power of the Moon from the very first page. I found myself experiencing many emotions and frustrations with the characters Cole and Mia. Just when I thought their 'relationship' if you want to call it that, was going in a certain direction FINALLY, something happened and it went the opposite. I found this happened due to Mia's past experiences with relationships and the way she was betrayed and mistreated. And as if that was not enough, Mia had a special secret she tried to keep covered up when it came to an ability she never talked about because she was afraid people would look at her a freak. Little did she know this secret would turn into a life saving and life altering ability that would change the way she looked at not only life, but herself.

This book had me on the edge of my seat right up till the end, and I mean to the very end, not knowing if love would prevail or not. And that dear reader is where I am going to leave it because I want you to be as engrossed and addicted to this book as I was . I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Tina Carreiro shows wonderful imagination and creativity and to all of you Vampire/Paranomal lovers out there, it is a MUST for your collection. I do not have a problem giving this juicy, saucy, seductive book five stars! And yes it is seductive, and it is not  for kids!  So, get your copy asap!!!!!

Blindsided

I found the newest work of Gemma aka Poppet, Blindsided, a nice change to your typical love story. Blindsided kept me wondering from chapter to chapter what was going to happen and if Andy and Lee's love was going to survive the next tragedy or twist of fate. I found it to be a very fast paced read because it was a great page turner.

I found myself in awe with the situations Lee found herself in mainly due to a man she loved unconditionally and thought he felt the same towards her. But she finds her world shattered to pieces after coming home from a long Canadian trip that lasted months, to find her perfect mate had been keeping a terrible secret, which turned out to be several secrets. She handles the first one she is faced with great poise and restraint. I could not understand how she could be so calm, but soon it is revealed why she cannot confront her 'true love' like a normal woman would when their man is found in a web of betrayal and lies. I found this part of the story shocking and compelling and became a very important part of the entire story.

I felt the story ended too quickly. I felt that the healing process between Lee and Andy should have been drawn out a tad more. I had mixed emotions about the ending of the book because there is a third party in the mix, and frankly, I was rooting for him because I felt he was a far more stable, loving, kind man than Andy was towards Lee. Goes to show you some loves are meant to be no matter the heartaches, hurdles and tragedies it has to endure.

I recommend this book like I have Poppet's other great works. Hats off to you again my friend.

Immortalis Carpe Noctem

I met Katie Salidas on Face book as a new and upcoming author. I felt she could not have chosen a better genre to get into at this time! It seems like the world has gone vamp crazy to the point people who were never fans of it, have been converted! I must admit, Maggie Shayne got me hooked with her series "Twilight" (the original for grownups) as she says. I have been reading and collecting the paranormal vampire/werewolf reads since. I am anxious about this new book coming on the scene by Katie! I plan on not only getting the E-book, but the printed copy as well because I am sure if this is as big of a success as I feel it will be, there will be others to follow in the series! So, let's all give her all the support we can. Every new author needs fans and people to help them get off to a great start! I can most assure you, you will not be sorry if you purchase this book! Hunters and Prey

Katie Salidas has done it again with the new released sequel to Immortalis Carpe Noctem, Hunters and Prey.

When I began reading the new book by Katie, Hunters and Prey, I was a little bothered by the similarity between the way Alyssa chose her victims and how Nicholas Cage's character in Ghost Rider punished his victims. Nicholas punished 'bad' people by making them feel the pain of their victims. In Hunters and Prey, Alyssa chose her 'blood source' by taking blood from only those who had harmed others in some way, and the victims felt the pain they had imposed on others. But as I read more into the book, I found it would not have worked any other way and I give her kudos for that. It gave Alyssa a compassionate side as a vampire.

In Hunters and Prey, Alyssa, breaks a rule by making herself known by entering a 'cafe she frequented as a teenager with her best friend Fallon. This sets the stage for the rest of the book. She finds she has to be rescued more than once by her beloved Lysander and the clan. Especially when her day mares about an old nemesis from Immortalis Carpe Noctem, becomes real.

I have to say once again, it was a book I could not put down, and am looking forward to the next chapter in Alyssa's adventures as a new vampire. Katie breathes life into her characters and as a reader, I found myself enthralled in the world she created in Hunters and Prey. I hope Katie keeps Alyssa around for a long time. Katie has added a extra treat at the end, a preview of the next book in the series, "Pandora's Box". This book is a must read!

I give this book five stars.

The Butcher's Boy

Janet, who was recently divorced, had found a new home for her and her son Michael. A new home that was huge and sat on two and a half acres with open fields across the street. It was a like being in the country with plenty of yard for Michael and Lucy, their rottweiler. Janet was in awe at the great price she was able to purchase the house for. Little did Janet know that the reason she got such a great deal on it was because a whole family was slaughtered in it and some of them refused to move on until things were set right.

Several people enter into Janet's life, each playing a part in this chilling and at times terrifying story. It had a few slow parts here and there, but not enough to really impact the story being told.  Some areas were predictable yes, but also didn't impact the story in a negative way. I would say this book is not for the squeamish or for children because it does involve rape, murder, torture, graphic language and content. I found the ending a bit disturbing because it went into great detail for a fairly long length of time and by the time it was over, I felt exhausted mentally. (S)

Michael Robb showed a lot of talent and knew how to push the characters and reader to their limits. The Butcher's Boy had a little bit of everything in it, love, hate, rape, ghosts, demons, torture, murder, all the ingredients for a great tale.

I would recommend this book and give it five stars.
